Weather Gadget

I've placed the weather gadget on the sidebar and set it for
my area, however the temperatures and forecasts are nothing like the
those from the weather bureau or other weather sites.

Any ideas welcomed.

Thanks

Bill

Just FYI. I Never Go Outside Because I Keep Installing Every Day. I Never

I use a different gadget, locally centered. depending where you are of
course. I don't know but perhaps it would be possible to construct (write)
the software for a gadget.

this is the one I use

Thanks for your reply and the link - I'm in Oz so not much use. Really
looking for info on who I should contact to find out why their info is just
so wrong. Unlike MS, but then again! Unfortunately they seem to have become
very inward looking - for example the lack of dictionaries, other than US
English, in the replacements for Outlook Express.

As a matter of interest does the weather sidebar gadget give you accurate
readings for your area?

Bill

I prefer something called Weather Bug. It is free if you don't mind
advertising. In addition to forcasts it has alerts for severe
weather,local radar and local live cameras. It isn't a gadget, more
old style. As far as being accurate it depends where the locations
are. Ususlly they are located in some open area which may offset the
real world reading you might get in your back yard or some such place.
The one I have it set to is a few degrees lower in the winter and a
few degrees higher in the summer since it is a very exposed area with
open fields all around.

Have you looked at the options and made sure it's set to the correct
temperature scale?

Re: Weather Gadget

It has UK english already installed but hidden.
to change dictionary, change to code for UK.
UK, 2057

For English Spelling variations:

Edit in Notepad %programfiles%\WindowsLive\Mail\Proof\prf0009\2\spell.ini
and enter desired Lang= and change Lex= if needed

lang=1033 ; US
lang=2057 ; UK
lang=4105 ; Canada
lang=3081 ; Australia

Lex=MSSP3EN.LEX for: US, UK and Canada

The Oz Lang dic.file can be downloaded if required
Lex=MSSP3ENA.LEX for: Australia - file may not be included in WLM.

Copy to
%programfiles%\Windows Live\Mail\Proof\prf0009\2\MSSP3ENA.LEX from
%programfiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Proof\MSSP3ENA.LEX or other
source

Tools, Options, Spelling will still show "English (United States)" with
any of the above selected, but it will check with the correct variation.
Test with e.g. favorite/favourite to confirm correct spellcheck.

If you would like the correct variation listed as well as the ability to
switch between variations, do the following:
- COPY (do not Move or Rename or else WLM will get upset) the folder
%programfiles%\Windows Live\Mail\Proof\prf0009\2
to either
%programfiles%\Windows Live\Mail\Proof\prfxxxx\1
or
%Your Details%\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\Windows
Live Mail\Proof\prfxxxx\1
where xxxx is the lang value in hexadecimal:
UK=prf0809, Canada=prf1009, Australia=prf0c09
- Make the appropriate spell.ini changes in the new folder as outlined
above.

Note: if copied to %userprofile% there will be an Uninstall option, but
not at %programfiles%

Make sure you have the proper permissions first to change files in target
paths.
Note: for other MS windows mail mail clients , follow same procedure.
DH
