| According to CNet - Linux Greener /Network World/ ran a series of independent tests and discovered that Red Hat Enterprise Linux uses 12 percent less power than Windows Server 2008 <http://www.networkworld.com/research/2008/060908-green-windows-linux.html?fsrc>. The greener operating system by a significant margin? Linux. |

Linux. So what? Most people here are not interested in Linux servers. Hell, most people here could care less about Linux/Ubuntu except our resident troll Alias. |

If all servers were Linux, yes for natural gas. Often used to make electricity. Further savings can be realized as Linux can run on power efficient hardware. |

Most environments I work in/on have Linux servers. Run longer, less maintenance and higher capabilities have a lot to do with it. Actually, Linux does quite well in the server market. RedHat and SUSE being the two top contenders in the space. Unlike Vista, they even work with other OSes. In case you haven't figured it, Micro$oft hasn't invented squat on the internet. TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPS, POP3 and even this news group's NNTP... all were on Linux before Microsoft anything. |

That is all good if it works for them. The problem here in the vista group is that we have so many retards who want to shove Ubuntu down our collective throats. When someone comes here for help with Vista, Ubuntu is the last thing they want to hear about. So if you took your Ford to the dealer for service, would you want the service advisor to tell you about the latest Mazda? Don't think so. > In case you haven't figured it, Micro$oft hasn't invented squat on the > internet. So why did you reply bashing Linux in this thread? > So if you took your Ford to the dealer for service, would you want the > service advisor to tell you about the latest Mazda? Don't think so. BTW, Ford owns Mazda. Sort of like buying Vista Premium to find out you are missing stuff only in business or ultimate versions. That is, Vista Premium is missing stuff to bait you for Ultimate double dip. |

You are in fact at least as guilty as anyone on posting habits (except for Frank the troll). > So if you took your Ford to the dealer for service, would you want the > service advisor to tell you about the latest Mazda? Don't think so. If Vista was a Ford, I could say lemon law. BTW Ford owns Mazda. Just like Microsoft sells Vista Basic/Home and also Business/Ultimate. Except Ford does not try to switch/bait customers. Ultimate will not solve my Vista Premium issues. It is just more piled higher. |
