| Shuts down unexpectedly I'm running Vista Home Premium on an HP dv9000 laptop. A couple of weeks ago, my laptop decided to shut down on its own. No error message, no blue screen... it just shut down. It does not restart. It will not start again for two or three minutes after it first shuts itself down. At first, I thought it was a problem with a game (The Sims 2), and maybe my graphics card (an nVidia GeForce 8800, IIRC). Then, it started doing it at other times, sometimes when I was just surfing the internet. I can give more information about my system upon request. Help? |

| Re: Shuts down unexpectedly Sounds like you have an overheating problem in the laptop. Make sure you dust it out with a can of air or compressor. Make sure you are not suffocating it (for example, having it on a bed with a blanket underneath it). Hot air should be coming out of the laptop, if all else fails, take it to a local repair center. | Re: Shuts down unexpectedly That was another one of my suspicions. I've pointed a fan at it; hopefully, that will help. Thank you very much! | Re: Shuts down unexpectedly I fan will not help if it is clogged. Ensure you clean it out.
