| Windows Explorer Hangs Running an HP Pavilion tx1220US laptop with Vista Home Premium SP1. When I switch power source to battery from the wall and then click the mute/unmute button above the keyboard, windows explorer hangs. I can shut explorer down and restart as much as I want and plug back in, but sound setting does not change and explorer hangs each time. Only way to resolve seems to be rebooting. I checked with HP support but they were not much help. Any ideas? thanks SMA |

| Re: Windows Explorer Hangs The sound or keyboard driver problem could only be cured by writing a new driver. There's not much chance you are going to get that from the maker of the device, but the only real way to do it is to watch for a new driver on the HP site. -- Was this helpful? | Happens to me too for the last few days. I did not notice it had anything to do with running from battery, but it's possible. Not sure it's related, but Windows Media Player sometimes hangs after I drop an MP3 on the window. After I succeed to kill it and start playing the MP3 in a different player I do not hear any sound. The app looks like the file is playing, but there's no sound. I have to stop the playing and start it again. Sometimes I have to kill even the other app once before things start working again. |
