when tring to install SQL server Managment Studio Express on windows vista i
got the following message :

[ Windows Installer
This installation package could not be opened. contact the application
vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package ]


any help please.

Have you tried downloading a fresh copy to make sure that your download was
not corrupt or otherwise damaged?

i tried to install the same copy on xp , and it's opend no problem on it.

Hi,

Two things come to mind that "may" be causing this.

1. Have you tried to right click the install.exe and select Run as
Administrator?
2. You do have UAC enabled don't you?
