| Shrink Volume, Boot Partition - Available shrink space I'm trying to shrink my C: Drive in Windows Vista, on my HP m9040n. I would like to keep my personal files on another partition, so that if I had to use HP's System Recovery I wouldn't lose all my files. Under Computer Management, I select the C: Drive and Click 'Shrink Volume.' Even though I have 175GB of free space, Vista tells me that I have 0 MB of available shrink space. I've search the internet and found how-to steps using g-parted, but they say I must have a Windows Installation disk to repair the boot-up afterwards. Since my HP didn't come with an actual installation disk, I'm not sure if I want to try that. Is there anyway I can shrink the volume? |

| Re: Shrink Volume, Boot Partition - Available shrink space System Recovery would return your PC to factory condition and delete your files. Best practice is to store backups on a removable external hard drive. ------- *Report back, please* "kdagostino" <kdagostino@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:6EDDD8FB-5536-4DE5-8B46-A4C837B2D085@microsoft.com...[color=blue] > I'm trying to shrink my C: Drive in Windows Vista, on my HP m9040n.
