| Re: LOL ... you guys crack me up :) Paul, those boys are never going to stop! I'm a 65-year-old woman (also Canadian) who has absolutely no problems with Vista (Home Premium 32, AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core 2.8 GHz, NVIDIA GeForce 6150se, HP a6230n Pavilion desktop). Started using computers 25 years ago, but I'm no techie — just understand the critters. Have been through *every* version of Windows, and PCs before that. Learned on punch cards, for heaven's sake! I'm happy as I can be, using the Vista machine as my primary, with the old XP downstairs on the wireless network for additional storage. I'm an Aussie, a bit of a tech-head, and have had Vista for a couple of months now. I'm still learning it, I can use it, but I occasionally I find something new or different. I've used Win 3.1, 3.11, 95, 98\98SE, Me, 2000 and XP, and, on sheer features alone, Vista takes the cake. Vista works brilliantly: I like the interface, it is very speedy, and, of course, when installed on a proper computer (i.e. as above or like what I have, Core 2 Duo E4400, 1GB RAM, Premium 32bit, etc.), it works beautifully. Also, the ability to have any colour you want in Aero mode is always a deal-sweetener. Our vista machine replaces our old Me machine, and is by far better (think walking 3000km to flying the very same distance. Which would you choose? In this case, buggy Me, or Vista. Not hard -- I'd choose Vista) We have had no compatibility problems with our computer because we bit the bullet and got all new software. Not once have we had major problems. Admittedly, I have never used Linux, and my experience with Macs extends as far a using it briefly in a store. Service Pack 1 has improved things greatly. If you haven't got it, get it now. You'll thank yourself, and it's worth th 60 or so MB it takes to download. So, don't go bagging something something you have no idea about. If you don't use it often enough, you'll never know if you'll like it. Oh, BTW, the FYIing is getting stupid. And, to everyone whose posted stupid comments here: If you're considering plastic surgery, please consider a brain extension. You'll do everyone a world of good. |

You'll do everyone a world of good.[/color] I just find it so funny that people take there computers as serious as some people do and willing to fight over it. I think all operation systems are crap in one way or another... and for linux even being free and not may people wanting it, well, I think that speaks for itself. anyways, I only started this thread just to get a rise out of these guys... yesterday I could stop laughing seeing how many arguments there were and the extent that they go with the name calling and such.
