Re: What am I doing wrong??

Me too! Of course this is after I finally ordered a compatible motherboard.
Vista gave me all kinds of problems with an Intel 925 chipset board, I went
to a board with an Intel 945p chipset.

Cheers.

Re: What am I doing wrong??

Mine works fine. It took me a day or two to get Vista working nice and
it took longer to get Live Mail working the way I like, but even that worked
out. What problem are you having?

You're lying.

You, Me and the majority of users, isn't it a shame when something works
right & we have nothing to complain about ;-).

I dont. But I hear around people have troubles with USB-devices,
specially after SP1. That's why I asked.

Well I don't know what sort of Vista you have been using, but as a fairly
advanced XP user, the transition has been almost completely painless.
Networking and file sharing with my XP box just err, worked! Yes Vista is
different visually, but then so is Office 2007.
I just get on with my day-to-day functions. No change, no problems, no
snags.

Good for you. I also don't have problems adapting to new ways of doing
things, when they end up making what I want to do easier. However most
people aren't as computer literate as you and me.

How many people just turn off the ribbon, just because they have become
accustomed to using the menu bar for over a decade?

Do you consider yourself an average computer user?

I'm no computer genius, however my computing knowledge is far above that
of the average user, but still I try to empathize with their valid
frustrations.

MS screwed them by waiting six years between XP and Vista. Computing
for most people is mainly the repetition of the same tasks over and over
again. And once that repetition gets ingrained over many years, you
don't even think about the tasks anymore and just do them seemingly
automatically.

Now six years later Vista comes along, and they are forced to think
about tasks that they did in XP without thinking. Frustration ensues.

So when it comes down to it, MS really screwed the pooch, because they
had so many development problems that delayed Vista, and they are now
reaping the harvest that that development mess sowed.

Vista is neither horrible, or perfect. But the cause of most of the
average end user frustrations with Vista has its roots in the mess MS
created in developing Vista.

Re: What am I doing wrong??

I had to replace every piece of software last February I owned to be
compatible with Vista, in many cases the most recent software was not
compatible, even my Norton Antivirus wouldn't work. That was Feb 2007, but
what an expensive pain.

And did you run the Upgrade advisor beforehand?
And as XP is still available now, in 2008, why did you go to Vista over a
year ago?
Seems like an own goal to me...
