Not Responding???

What is is with Vista and repeated "Not Responding" alerts. I get at least
5 or 6 of the blasted things a day on various different programs. Nobody is
going to convince me that it's normal for an OS to do this. I've been
working with PS's since the early days of DOS, and each "Improvement" seems
to create more problems than it solves .I'd love to have Bill Gates stop by
for a cold beer sometime so I could beat him into a coma.

Re: Not Responding???

Hi,

You're right, it's not normal, and it doesn't happen on systems that I use
and service. When I do see it, it's generally a sign of either malware or
misconfiguration, so that's where I'd start looking. Without knowing more
about what programs are affected, that's about all I can tell you.

Re: Not Responding???

If this is an upgrade, you should consider reinstalling using a custom
(clean) install. You should start by looking at the programs you have
installed that are not Vista compliant. While they may install, they may
either have problems themselves (not responding for one) or cause other
programs to have problems. If your not responding problems clear up without
closing, as most do, you should check to see what other running programs and
services are being assigned the machine cycles available.

Re: Not Responding???

I have an exact issue as yours.

For this, I posted yesterday on this board, however it seems
very tough to tackle. It sounds like more 'Registry' got messed-up
or something got lost.

In my case which is Word 2000, I started to contact the HP which made
the PC, ... but again, it seems tough to tackle this issue, ... at least in
my
case.

A last option of which I'm thinking is probably, ... uninstall/install Vista
which brings to the Factory State, ... if I still want to stick to the Word
2000.

Your post is very intgeresting to read, because of similarity I can see.
