When i log on to my account the background is black. With just one program
"Documents". I do the task bar manager and type explorer. exe and it works,
but when i log off or shut down. it says something about winlogon bad image
and winlogonUI. Also when i log in when i do the task manager a pop up comes
up saying that a a run dll is invalid. Could you help me? Thank You!

Hi barca26,

Try this:

Click start and type REGEDIT, then hit <enter> to open the registry editor.
Expand the keys at left by clicking the plus (+) signs to reach this key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon

Click on this key and locate the 'shell' string in the right pane. Double
click it, replace the contents with just

explorer.exe

Click ok, then close the registry editor and reboot the machine.

I can't find the key neither the plus sign at the left . it only says
Hkey_local_mahine with alot of componets at the bottom. when i click software
ii says default reg_sz

Hi,

I said plus signs, but I meant the little triangles. The plus signs were
used in XP and before, I used that phrase from force of habit.
