How do you stop Vista from continuing to search?

I've found that when I click on the start orb and type in something in the
Search field and it finds what I'm looking for, I click on the result but
Search keeps on working. Even if I close the search, I can hear it still
accessing the hard drive. How do I stop it once I've found what I'm looking
for?

Thanks.

You can't stop the indexing service without giving up the search feature.
When you search, it builds an index that would prevent delay on the next
search.
The Control Panel, Indexing Options lets you set what to index, and the file
types included in it.
You cannot find files when you search a Windows Vista-based computer even
though the files exist on the computer:

Re: How do you stop Vista from continuing to search?

Well I think that once the file is found, and accessed, it should stop
searching. Why waste resources continuing to search when I've already found
the file? It bogs down the system and I'm on a core 2 duo with 2GB of RAM.

Anyway, thanks for the answer, even though it's not what I wanted to hear.
LOL I've sent of a question to Windows Search Support so will see what they
have to say.
