I am keen to know how to get rid of the Registration information, I have on
numerous occasions attempted this and have found that the only way to do
this is to re install my operating system, surely there is an easier way.

Don't Panic!

you can safely delete anything in the registry, as long as you understand it may kill your system. Have a good backup. Know how to recover from the backup.
