"Computer" on Vista Home Premium

This morning while on at our Club's Computer Class room, I was performing
some updates on one of the new (yesterday) HP desktop computers.

Then, I thought I would place some images on the computer for use in the
Photoshop class. No matter how I opened the "Computer" I could see the
folders on the left. Once I would click on a folder to display the contents,
the contents appeared but the folders went away. Therefore there was no
means of using drag and drop to move the images from the USB flash drive to
the Pictures folder.

As it turned out, there is no way to drag and drop any file to any folder.

Any thoughts?
