Printing Problem -- XP & Vista Network

I have a 3 PC network over which I cannot print. I can copy, move
and delete files, as far as I know my only limitation is printing.

The printer work fine when connect directly to any PC.

PC #1 is my "main" PC -- Vista Home Premium PC wired to the router
and printer. Printer is an HP 1022 with the most recent Vista
drivers. Printer is shared, Password Protected Sharing has been for
On and Off - no difference I can see. File Sharing is ON. Network
name is the same on all PCs.

The other two PCs are XP Professional PCs. They happen to be
connected wirelessly, but at various times both have been connected
to the router via Cat5 cables - no differences I can see.

I can browse from either XP machine and "see" and "install" the HP
1022 printer. When I Print a document, the document enters the queue,
but nothing happens at the printer. No lights changing - nothing. At
that point I can no longer print anything from PC#1. I cannot
"delete" these items from the print queue, although Windows acts as if
I can. i.e. Windows says "deleting" and later sometimes "deleted",
but the document is in the queue.

The only solution I have found is this - open Services on the Vista
PC, stop and restart the Print Spooler service. At this point all the
documents, regardless of source, print off the HP 1022.

If it matters, I had no trouble printing from this same printer with
my previous PC which happens also to have been an XP Professional
machine.

Have you tried checking the permissions on the sharing of the printer? I'd
try giving everyone Print, Manage Printer and Manage Documents permissions.

Re: Printing Problem -- XP & Vista Network

Hi, Pls see attached document on how to clean the registry, spooler etc.
We finf that the deleter utility
(http://www.kyoceramita.com.au/utilities.asp)
is best way to go, however you can do it manually or use the windows
cleanspool utilty.

Pls let me know if this helps as this is a draft document.
Cheers, Gez
