Vista sp1 availability

I understand that Vista SP1 is "available for download" through Microsoft
Widows Update site as of 3/18 ...however when I go to Windows Update through
my PC, it shows no available updates.
???

Re: Vista sp1 availability

Same problem here, and I have found no solution. Very frustrating situation.

Re: Vista sp1 availability

After reviewing the Microsoft Vista Blog, I now can see why my PC cannot
access the update. Likely due to hardware or device driver issues.
Pretty sad. From what other users are posting on the blog, it sounds like I
should stay away from SP1 until these issues are sorted out.

If anyone can offer more insight into this issue I would appreciate it.
Thanks!
Matthew

Strange - mine came down Monday from MS update and installed OK. However my
wife's laptop doesn't see it at all. - Strange.

Re: Vista sp1 availability

It maybe that you have specific driver issues that prevent SP1 downloading.
you could, of course download the standalone version (around 450MB) Visit
this link on my website:

http://vistasupport.mvps.org/download_full_copy_of_SP1.htm

Before downloading this standalone copy, though, take a look at the
knowledgebase article 948343 the link of which you will also find on the
page of my website

RE: Vista sp1 availability

On March 18, 2007, after SP1 became available, I had to click on the "Check
for updates" in the left hand panel of the WU window in order to get SP1 to
show as an available update in the right hand panel of the WU window. You
might try this to "refresh" the list of updates. It was not showing up until
I did this manual check.

I assumed this was necessary since SP1 is not being pushed out automatically
until mid-April. Apparently doing the manual "Check for updates" forces it to
appear. I would assume that in mid-April when it is pushed out, that is when
it will appear automatically in the list of available updates

This is assuming there is not one of problem drivers present on your machine
which would also keep it from appearing.

Re: Vista sp1 availability

No SP1 on WU after re-install.
My laptop is a Fujitsu Siemens V5535, Vista Home Prem 32bit. I was able to get and install Vista sp1 through WU about 2 weeks ago - no problem. So the laptop must have been originally Vista compatible - right?
After having to to a clean re-install of Vista (for an unrelated reason), SP1 is no longer offered through WU.
There are no driver issues according to the Microsoft 'list' and I haven't changed or added any hardware.
Any thoughts welcome.
