Technet download - File Transfer Manager not responding

I'm trying to download files from the Technet subcription area to a Vista
Ultimate laptop. When I select "Download Now", file transfer manager starts,
displays "Validating download" in the status bar and stops. Nothing else
happens. File Transfer Manager doesn't display the file or try to download it.

I followed the guidance posted about creating a download folder and
specifying it in options. It doesn't seem to matter.

Does anyone know if I'm doing something wrong, or if there is a problem with
the Technet download site?

Bruce

You need to temporarily disable any browser pop-up blockers,
including IE's and others which may be included with a third-party
search toolbar, such as Google's or Yahoo's.

Carey:

I disabled the popup blocker in IE7 and Google. When I select Download Now,
I get an IE security warning, "a website wants to open web content using this
program on your computer". I allow, File Transfer Manager starts, displays
the same validating message and stops.

Yes, that's what I got, I can not add the downloads to Microsoft File
transfer on Vista, but I can used in XP
