I want to be able to type a euro signe in all programmes. can I map one of
the existing keys (such as ¬) to the euro sign?

What keymap are you using? You should be able to get the Euro symbol by
pressing AltGr + 4, on European keyboards. ???????

OK, it's AltGr + 4 on UK keyboards, but it seems to be AltGr + E on most
other European keyboards.

Try AltGr + 5 if you have a US keyboard.
