| Re: Clean install of vista and SP1 It depends on what drivers you have available during setup. Some systems will need to update before SP1 will install. Windows Vista Service Pack 1 is not available for installation from Windows Update and is not offered by Automatic Updates: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=948343 -- Was this helpful? | Re: Clean install of vista and SP1 Once you perform a clean install of Vista, visit the Windows Update web site and your system will be scanned for recommended updates. Add on top of that the added compression layer on the WU version of SP1 compared to the standalone, and you're just asking for problems installing. -- Peace! The standalone installer includes all the necessary updates to allow correct installation |
