That's a completely different issue. I believe there's a class action in the
process of being brought against MS for advertising "Vista Capable" machines
that weren't.
I have bought a new machine with Vista pre-installed, and it is running
fine.

Just bought a new laptop (as the old gave up the ghost)
Toshiba Satellite L40 18Z
Intel duo core T2330 1.6 GHz processor
1 GB RAM (another 1GB in the post)
80 GB HDD
Vista Home Premium pre-installed
Office 2007 (which I already had)

As someone who was fairly knowledgeable about XP, I've found the transition
interesting, relatively easy, and the machine running very much OK.
SP1 update went flawlessly, with the slight exception of the minimised
application thumbnails - but that seems to have been fixed after a re-boot
when updating wireless card driver.
Overall? Pretty OK I should say...

Please stop the irritating posts about how good or bad vista is!

You probably don't remember but you posted the above subject earlier this
morning. Did you forget?

Maybe you have too many drugs in your system.

Lets PLEASE lets leave behind the quarrel if Vista is good or not.

Apparently there is too much controversy on this subject, others love it
others hate it.

I say we stop talking about that, whatever is done is done, and focus on

Good for you. I also have a vista install that works fine on newer
hardware. However, I have XP install on computer with hardware at least
4 years old with less memory, and it outperforms Vista SP1 in file
transfers, both locally and via my network.

Vista is a pig of an OS. And it really offers no real benefits over XP
to the average consumer. Vista is just MS's latest attempt to get people
to buy software unnecessarily.

I doubt any MS employees applied any of those stickers. Let's call a duck a
duck, shall we?

Manufacturers bought/made the hardware.
Manufacturers built/assembled the systems.
Manufacturers decided if their computers were Vista-Capable or not.
Manufacturers applied stickers to their products/packaging.
Manufacturers advertised their XP computers as Vista-Capable.
Manufacturers sold those computers.

If some of the Manufacturers didn't follow the specs, and didn't bother Beta
testing Vista on their computers before telling consumers they would run
Vista, then why would MS be held legally responsible for someone else's
advertised hardware? It just doesn't make sense from any stand point except
greed. MS has the money, so MS gets sued. Why? Because Manufacturers wanted
to sell more XP machines six months before Vista was released.

Re: Sign petition to Bill Gates

Thanks Tom. No tech support, no refunds. I am not an idiot but I agree that
98, me, 2000 and xp were very user friendly. I taught myself. But not with
this one. $900.00 /6months ago, out of pocket. Since Vista I cannot seem to
complete most things that I start so I mostly don't even use my pc anymore.
Nothing seems to function completely.

MS's trademark is used in the program. That is MS's seal of approval.

Vista-Capable was a program created by MS and its moron marketing
department. That's why MS is getting sued.

So lets call the mastermind of this anti-consumer marketing con-job a
duck.

"Exactly. So, logically..."

Well you certainly showed him how to not to use fluff, and how to use
facts in your reply post!

Now why don't you try to explain your own opinion on why Vista's impact
isn't global?

Or are you just a useless & lazy pro-MS troll like Frank?
