date pops up randomly

Why does this date pop up at random times??

it only goes away if i click on and off the calendar.

am i being punished? How do i disable stupid things?

New to me too. Grasping at straws, it might be worth right clicking on the
taskbar and toggling "Lock the Taskbar" back and forth in case something is
overlapped.

I have seen this anomaly several times.

If I have a .pdf file open in Acrobat Reader and use the Find box to search
for a word, the search progress bar appears at the bottom right corner of
the page, directly above the clock in the Notification area. This causes the
date popup to display. Apparently the search progress bar causes the date to
display.

Normally the date popup should only appear when you move the mouse cursor
over the clock.
