Also ask if they can supply the next PC without a sticky caps lock key. |

We can hear you if type normally, in mixed case. There's no way anyone can tell what your problems are from the *tiny* amount of information you've provided. All anyone can do is guess, and I'd rather not guess. Start by telling us the hardware configuration of your computer. What version of Vista? What applications do you run on it. Describe the problem. How poor is "so poor"? Be specific. Put a number on how long it takes to do something. Is performance always poor or only when doing some things? What things? Are there other problems? Describe them. How old is the computer? Did Vista come pre-installed or did you upgrade to it? Has the performance always been poor, or has it gotten worse? When did the poor performance start? What changes (software installation, downloads, etc.) did you make just before it started? What does "JUST ABOUT EVERYTHING I KNOW" mean? Exactly *what* have you tried? What anti-virus and anti-spyware programs do you run? Are they kept up to date. -- Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP - Windows Desktop Experience Please Reply to the Newsgroup |

You buy a laptop that hangs/crashes at every turn and you auto blame the OS? You could be right, it could be the Vista config but have you considered that you may have a faulty hardware/config/etc? Tell us what "tried everything I know" entails and we may be able to tell you whether the problem is laptop of OD related. I don't know anything about its anti-spyware capabilities, but note that a single such program is not good enough to protect you. Note what Eric Howes, who has done extensive testing on Anti-Spyware products, states: "No single anti-spyware scanner removes everything. Even the best-performing anti-spyware scanner in these tests missed fully one quarter of the "critical" files and Registry entries" See http://spywarewarrior.com/asw-test-guide.htm So given that a single product is not enough for good protection, two are better than one, three are better than two, and so on. Do you "need" more than two? There's no clear answer to those questions. My own practice is very conservative, and I personally run Spybot Search and Destroy Adaware Spyware Blaster Windows Defender Super-Antispyware A-Squared but not at the same time. Since you are experiencing performance problems, I think you should at least consider the possibility that you might be infected. I recommend that you begin troubleshooting by going to MVP Malke's malware removal site at http://www.elephantboycomputers.com/page2.html#Removing_Malware and following the instructions there.
