change ugly green progress bar in Vista

That horrible green progress bar is reallystarting to make me angry. How can
I change the colour? This used to be easy in XP but like most things has
become more complicated in Vista.

Find some more worthwhile things to get angry about, and some more useful
things to do with your computer.

Aero has settings in control panel/Personalization/windows color and
appearance/ see link for the mixer. Change the color saturation and
brightness.

Do you actually read these questions before answering?

Well, what I meant was that you most probably didn't read it properly as you
read too quickly.

Re: change ugly green progress bar in Vista

OK, I read it as 'UGLY green', and you probably read 'ugly GREEN'. I find
changing the saturation made aero much easier to use.

I'm not sure what you mean. He says he wants to change the colour of the
green progress bar, because he thinks it is ugly. I don't see what the aero
saturation colour has got to do with it. Anyway, I'm not trying to argue
with you about this.

Actually it has been shown that ugly colours make people angry. I am
generally angry with Vista because it has so many problems and the ugly
green colour is making me hate it even more. I am amzed that Microsoft have
firstly chosen such an annoying colour, and then secondly have made it
impossible to change (except with some complicated stuff I finally found by
googling). Please will microsoft make some changes to the ghastly colours in
Aero - horrible stuff.

Green is supposed to have a calming effect on humans. That's why the Soviet
space program used a lot of green in the interiors or their spacecraft,
after they found this out in scientific studies.

Anyway, you can try some of the alternative Vista Visual Styles on
deviantart.com, if it bothers you so much. I'm sure I saw one with a blue
gel MacOSX style progress bar.

You'll need to replace uxtheme.dll with hacked one that allows non-signed
visual style files to be used.
