| OEM Vista Ultimate 64-Bit Disc Cracked Hi All: To clarify, I want to say this post is about physical damage to the disc, not hacking. So early December 2007, I built myself a nice gaming machine. With all the parts, I also bought an OEM copy of Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit for my operating system. After getting my motherboard replaced for a defect, I go to install Windows again and I notice 4 cracks radiating from the centre hole of the disc. Lucky for me, the cracks haven't spread to the data portion of the disc yet, so it was still usable. So at least I have Windows back up and running again, but now I'm worried about the disc. How do I go about getting my disc replaced? I contacted the reseller whom I bought it from and he said to contact Microsoft for a replacement, but I don't know where to start. Any help would be appreciated. If it matters, I am a Canadian. -- My Rig: Intel Core2 Quad Q6700 @2.66 GHz eVGA nForce 780i SLi MCP Motherboard 4 GB Mushkin DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM 2 x eVGA GeForce8800 GT, SLI''''ed 2 x 250 GB Seagate Barracuda HDD, RAID 0 |

Vista discs aren't copy protected, as Microsoft considers the product key to be sufficient protection. |

| Re: OEM Vista Ultimate 64-Bit Disc Cracked I have already done that, but I just feel safer having an authentic disc. I'm sure Microsoft has some sort of program in place for situations like this? They can't possibly expect everyone with a cracked disc to just copy it. -- My Rig: Intel Core2 Quad Q6700 @2.66 GHz eVGA nForce 780i SLi MCP Motherboard 4 GB Mushkin DDR2 PC2-6400 RAM 2 x eVGA GeForce8800 GT, SLI''''''''ed 2 x 250 GB Seagate Barracuda HDD, RAID 0 "Bill" wrote: [color=blue] > Larenz wrote: >[color=green] > > > > After getting my motherboard replaced for a defect, I go to install Windows > > again and I notice 4 cracks radiating from the centre hole of the disc.
