You need to upgrade to at least Vista Home Premium, but first you need to be certain your computer can run it. http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pro...ns/choose.mspx |

| Re: Windows aero in vista basic Aero is only available in versions other than Home Basic. The registry hack is something that allows a PC that doesn't meet the hardware specs to use aero, but the software does support it. About the only way to get it to work is to upgrade to a different version of Vista. -- Dustin Harper dharper@vistarip.com http://www.vistarip.com | Vista Resource & Information Page "Jamjame" <Jamjame@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:5025E1AA-87AE-460E-8DC2-226BCD7BC71B@microsoft.com... > please help me i really want aero to work in vista basic and microsoft > know > the proper way of doing this so i want to hear from microsoft but if > anyone > else knows it please tell me and i have ati readon as my video card 1gb > ram > and a toshiba laptop i tried changing regestry values but that dont work > so i > just change it back to normal so don't suggest doing it that way cause it > dont work for me. > > again microsoft is who i like to hear from and if anyone else knows the > proper way reply aswell. thanks |

| Re: Windows aero in vista basic You avoid the first three parts of the marketing machine if you do your job as a customer and know what you're buying before you buy. Generally this entails either reading the back of the box, or going on the Microsoft website. It's not hard. You just need basic reading and comprehension abilities. | Re: Thanks That's kind of the point of the Basic version - it excludes features found in the more advanced versions. There's no way to turn it on, if there were there would be little point in selling the other versions, would there? -- Richard G. Harper [MVP Shell/User] rgharper******.com * NEW! The other is installing hardware that is sufficient for the Aero interface to be loaded and run. That means the processor, memory and video hardware must all meet or exceed certain levels. If your system came with Vista Basic, it's possible that it does not have the hardware needed. If that is the case, and you could tell by running the Vista Upgrade Advisor, consider replacing the entire system if you want the Aero interface. HTH -pk |
