display settings

My wife's new laptop (dell inspiron 1530(i think)) is having an issue that is
bugging us. when you shut the lid and open it back up later the display
settings (screen size)are changed. i have been on dell's website and they
use their remote thingy that allows them to fix the problem. it always works
ok until the computer restarts. then the very next time she shuts the lid and
opens it back up, bingo the settings are changed again. any suggestions on
keeping this from happening?

thanx
