| compatibility button in windows explore after a lot of web searching it seems that Vista hides some subfolders. and the general consensus to be able to see these folders is by clicking firstly on the compatibility button up top on the taskbar beside the burn button. however I dont have that button and cant see where to turn it on. I have: Organize, Views, Burn and thats it. Suggestions? I have seen a screenshot on the web showing Windows Explore with that button so I know it exists! This is a new Vista Home Premium install on a clean Formatted HD, could it be the options I chose when installing? anyway, ideas would be appreciated. |

| Re: compatibility button in windows explore You will only see the Compatibility button when you are viewing a subfolder of 'C:\Program Files' that belongs to a program that has attempted to write to that subfolder. When you click the Compatibility button, Explorer displays the corresponding subfolder of: 'C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files' So if any app has been forced to use compatibility files, you can find them there. -- Good Luck, Keith Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] "sootynz" <sootynz@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:2F1F0F22-9DC7-44F5-9A3F-0986276F003C@microsoft.com...[color=blue] > after a lot of web searching it seems that Vista hides some subfolders. > and > the general consensus to be able to see these folders is by clicking > firstly > on the compatibility button up top on the taskbar beside the burn button. > however I dont have that button and cant see where to turn it on.
