| Claas action plaintiffs not hurt by MS... [url]http://money.cnn.com/2008/02/23/technology/vista_classaction.ap/[/url] "Neither of the two people who filed the original lawsuit participated in a program Microsoft (MSFT, Fortune 500) devised to help people who bought new computers before Vista's launch upgrade later to the new operating system, but they argued nonetheless that people who bought "Vista Capable" computers were harmed because they could only run a basic version of Vista." They see deep pockets in MS and are doing this strictly for the money. Real scumbags. Frank |

Oh come on Frank, if you knew nothing about Vista and bought a "vista capable" laptop that had XP and Vista as a free upgrade, wouldn't you be pissed of if you later found out that Vista capable means that it can run vista in basic mode without the aero glass? Remember simple folk don't know what aero 3d glass means, but when they see their friends laptop having aero, and theirs not, they will certainly feel mislead... The correct term should be "Vista BASIC capable" with a good explanation to what that means. Anything else is misleading and a way to PUT money in their pockets in a dishonest way. Of course MS should be sued, so they will be more transparent and open and honest. I don't think the lawsuit will be won by the plaintiffs if MS proves that they did their part in providing the necessary training tools for those stores and it's employees. That is being rather "transparent". It appears (no sh*t!) that the stores didn't follow thru in the proper manner. Frank |

MS provided the necessary training tools and it is up to the stores to properly train their employees. Look at cars...they too are world wide and they come in all model even from the same manufacturer. And it's up to the sales person to know his product. The computers were advertised as being able to run Vista, but not all of Vista's features. A "Vista Capable" machine will even run Ultimate. Just not with Aero. If is not Microsofts fault that people don't do research before buying expensive products. Microsoft made the information available. People here post about all the work they do to research and buy hardware. The truth is, most people buy what the salespeople sell them. We all have opinions on expertise of staff at Circuit City, Best Buy, Fry's, etc., and I definitely have an opinion on the objectiveness of sales staff during the holiday sales season. Christmas had poor timing in relation to Vista's release ;) and the message was: "No need to wait until January! Buy now! Upgrade to Vista later!" |
