System reboots while installing a OS on Virtual Machine 2007

I have a windows vista business edition Dell inspiron 1521 laptop that I
installed Virtual machine on to run some legacy apps. The install of windows
xp pro sp2 goes smoothly, and then when it reboots for the first time, the
entire laptop reboots, there is no blue screen or anything, the screen goes
black and then I get the dell splash screen. I've gone through and updated
all the drivers including the bios to the latest version. I've also gone
through and tried taking a .vhd file from my dell inspiron 1501 system that
is working, and loaded it on the 1521 and I still get the same result of the
entire laptop rebooting.

Re: System reboots while installing a OS on Virtual Machine 2007

why are you using that toy virtual machine program from MS?

Get the far superior VM program from vmware that is free= vmware server

Yes Vmware Server is free! www.vmware.com

if you got a multi core CPU it will work faster than Virtual PC2007
