Rename a batch of file in sequence

Hi all,

I tried to rename a batch of file by select all then rename it XXX. After
that, all the files renamed as XXX(001), XXX(002) etc.... however, i would
like to file to be renamed as XXX001 XXX002 without bracket.

I can do this by window xp, but not vista. Please help. Thanks alot.
