Since 89? What kind of internet existed back then? lol BBS?

can you describe your experience to me? Unfortunatly here in europe we got
access to stuff other than BBS much later. If I could I would be the first
person online.. lol

The Internet started in the late '60s. I think it really blossomed
among colleges in the 70s. Usenet started in 1980
([url]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usenet[/url]). Usenet servers originally
exchanged articles via telephone line at non-peak times (like the
middle of the night). When the Internet became ubiquitous, it was a
natural progression to use that to exchange messages.

I think it was used mostly in colleges until commercial dial-up ISPs
started appearing in the 90s.
