| Classic/old Songs Download Hi: Many thanks for all the responses to my previous thread, ... 'Listening Songs/music.' Now, I have one more question to ask, .... I love to listen to older songs, mostly 70', 80's and even more older ones. However, I have NO clue to download, much less which site I should visit to accomplish my task, ... download and listen. I would be truly appreciated it if any of you on this board would direct me which site, how to dowload and all other necessary steps for successful, and FIRST of all, safe to download songs I love to listen. Thanks, |

Judging from the instructions on the Streamripper download page for Windows, it's far easier to install in Ubuntu, just a couple of clicks, and the interface for Ubuntu is much nicer. Alias |

| Re: Classic/old Songs Download I am not in music that much, especially pop but I checked the site out of curiosity. It played a song by Lily Allen at my request. It is a neat setup, very unusual. My question is technical. There was no file to download. I presume the song was played by the default music player: Windows Media Player. It plays files with various extensions like wav, wma, etc. Did it just play a similar file located physically on the server? BTW, I found the quality of sound much to be desired, don't know why. Is it a limitation of the method or what? Go ahead and list those "civil rights" that were stripped away. And then tell us how obama is going to change all that, like any president has been able to do before, considering the opposition they are always up against. | Re: Classic/old Songs Download I use streaming of stock quotes in my applications which come from quotetracker API, BTW, Synaptic Syndrome. So Pandora comes thru Streaming Audio Renderer. The Windows Media Player is an API or rather can be used as such. I play my own recorded messages (my own voice recorded with SoundRecorder.exe/sndRec32.exe) via Windows Media Player. The WMP never shows up on my desktop. I make calls from inside my code with a parameter that prohibits it from appearance. It is a very commend technique. For me WMP is an API. It is not an API for you or anyone else who use is as a stand alone application. I use voice as punctuation points and as alerts that certain processes went thru OK or there were problems. The Streaming Audio renderer is a part of WMP. Thus, Synaptic Syndrome, I am sorry, it is an API for me. Got it? An API is any stand alone application with or without user interface that allows an application programmer to tap some kernel functions. Such APIs are typically encompass a clearly defined role, like rendering voice recording or... I cannot come up with a better example now. The are sometimes called wrappers, etc. You definitely have a lot to learn but I don't think you should attempt.
