RE: aero feature in vista

If you have Vista Basic, it doesn't have Aero. I have it and turned it off. I
found the smoky transparent windows to be annoying.

Which version do you have? Basic does not support it. If you have Home
Premium or above, open your control panel, and double click on system. Under
system, you will see rating. That has to be 3.0 or above to run Aero Glass.
If it says your system rating not available, click on that, and it will take
you to Performance Information and Tools. Down to the right you will see a
link that says "Update my score". When you run that, it will pop a dialogue
box that says it's rating your system. After it finishes, it will give your
score.

As I stated before if it is below 3.0, you will be stuck with basic. HTH

"That has to be 3.0 or above to run Aero Glass."

I don't see how that can be accurate, because my two PCs both "run Aero
Glass," and their Experience Indexes are only 2.0 and 2.5, those being the
lowest scores, for "Desktop Performance for Windows Aero." Yes, I'm talking
about having transparency in all the right places, etc.

Where did you get that information?

Brian

P.S. My one-year-old notebook and five-year-old desktop PCs run Vista
Ultimate 64 and Vista Business 32 very, very well, even with those low
"scores." I don't think too much emphasis should be placed on the Experience
Index.

Re: aero feature in vista

I believe UNDER 2.0 will not run Aero, whereas 2 and above will.

In reading further down, the site DOES contradict itself however. The table
says it's not supposed to, but the detailed description of the scores it
says it is possible. Go figure...:/

So if your system is running it with less than 3, my bad. Even the best of
us make mistakes...:)

If the user has Home Basic, that won't do anything.
