Windows XP and Vista will not *create* a FAT32 partition larger than 32GB, but it will happily use one if created externally. -- Ken Blake, Microsoft MVP - Windows Desktop Experience Please Reply to the Newsgroup |

When and if he switches to FAT32, Win98 will be able to see it. There may be a problem if the partition is larger than 137GB, I'm not sure about that. -- Tim Slattery MS MVP(Shell/User) Slattery_T@bls.gov http://members.cox.net/slatteryt |

Hence my question. You're right that a Win98 system wouldn't even see the NTFS partition. But if you booted from a WIN98 startup disk and ran FDISK, I think it would be visible. You could then delete the NTFS partition and create a FAT32 one. -- Tim Slattery MS MVP(Shell/User) Slattery_T@bls.gov http://members.cox.net/slatteryt |

Are there drivers that can be installed on such a boot disk that would give one access to this type of drive? If you could find a Win98 FDISK, you could use it in XP or Vista. -- Tim Slattery MS MVP(Shell/User) Slattery_T@bls.gov http://members.cox.net/slatteryt |

| Re: Converting or formatting NTFS to FAT32 Thank you. As I will be using the drive mostly with a Mac, I've decided that it would be too much trouble to use Win98 to partition it 6 times into FAT32 just so that I could occasionally use it with my PC. As it happens, I'm writing this on my Mac, as my stupid Windows Vista PC has stopped connecting to or even seeing my wireless network. HFS+ all the way! Thanks to all who have endeavored to help. Much appreciated :) "Tim Slattery" wrote: > "why" <why198546******.com> wrote: > > >So far as i know,Fat32 support upto only 32GB! > > Not true. It's been the case for several years now. If you want to format FAT32 on a larger partition, you have to use a 3rd party tool or a previous version of Windows. HTH -pk > -- > solidliquidgas > > I miss my Commodore 64.
