| Unable to launch Vista Speech Recognition wizard. Hi, I have a Lenovo X61T tablet PC and I am running Vista Business 32 bit edition on it. I have had this machine for more than 5 months now but I never tried the speech recognition feature. Recently, I tried to launch the speech recognition feature but an error window pops up saying it cannot launch the speech recognition wizard. It asks me to check my audio settings, which I did and there is no problem with them. I get the same error window even when I try to set up my microphone. I checked all the settings for audio and speech recognition and they all seem normal. I am not an expert on registry so I have not looked through registry settings. I searched Google, Microsoft forums, and all the online resources I could and didn't find any solution to this problem. I really need this feature enabled and would greatly appreciate any and all the help I can get on this. Thanks. Keith. |

| Re: Unable to launch Vista Speech Recognition wizard. Hi Mark, Thanks for your response. It seems to me that I am unable to launch the speech recognition engine. It could be because the language packs that I have installed are not working. The default engine that is installed on my machine doesn't seem to work anymore. Is there a way I could fix it by uninstalling or reinstalling the speech recognition engine or the language packs? I am not even able to select the recording device under audio settings as the default device; it is automatically selected as the default device and the "set as default" button stays disabled (I can't click on that). I have the SoundMAX Integrated Digital HD Audio on my X61t. I have been trying to find a solution to my problem for more than a week now, without any luck. I would really appreciate all the help I can get to fix this problem. Thanks, Keith. Thanks, Keith. -- Lenovo X61T Windows Vista Business 32 bit |

| Re: Unable to launch Vista Speech Recognition wizard. Have you tried to simply type "speech" then choosing SRO? Or uninstalling then reinstalling your device? Then finally, you can try searching for troubleshooting tips for the device in "Help& Support". Hope this helps. | RE: Unable to launch Vista Speech Recognition wizard. I am having the same problem. It is not the microphone, I have tried several and they work on other programs. | RE: Unable to launch Vista Speech Recognition wizard. Hi I think I'm having a simmular problem, when i open the speech recognition conficuration of the control panel, it's just blank, no options. The mic and soundcard works perfectly according to Dell, so it's no problem there. And nothing changes after formating and reinstalling Vista again. A friend of min told me it might be because I have the swedish version of Vista Business, and it only works in the English version. which to me sounds kind of retarded. //Niklas |
