| Icons for special folders Could I use my own icon? Their properties don't have a tab for icon as normal folders. I saw tips about using the desktop.ini in each of them. But I don't want to use desktop.ini as I don't need Vi$ta to remember each folder's own settings. -- @~@ Might, Courage, Vision, SINCERITY. / v \ Simplicity is Beauty! | Re: Icons for special folders If the folders have a custom icon, as the Special Folders do, then they are already using a desktop.ini file. You just need to modify it's contents. Set Explorer options to both 'Show hidden files' & clear the 'Hide protected operating system' files check box. You will then see the desktop.ini files in the folders. In the 'Documents' folder, the desktop.ini file contains the following: [.ShellClassInfo] LocalizedResourceName=@%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll,-21770 IconResource=%SystemRoot%\system32\imageres.dll,-112 IconFile=%SystemRoot%\system32\shell32.dll IconIndex=-235 Change the 'IconResource' value to point to your icon. -- Good Luck, Keith Microsoft MVP [Windows Shell/User] "Man-wai Chang ToDie" <toylet.toylet******.com> wrote in message news:OVLuxawaIHA.4808@TK2MSFTNGP05.phx.gbl...[color=blue] > > Could I use my own icon?
