Access denied to application data folder

Just got a laptop with Vista Basic. Want to import settings from XP Pro and
get access denied trying to open the application data folder. How do I gfet
to my apps back end's?

Application Data is just a junction point that points to;

C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Roaming

I have the same problem, but I can't open the application data folder
under users either.
