Vista shows wireless network but won't connect

Just bought a Dell XPS 420 with a wireless card. My laptop with XP will
connect to the Westell gateway but when I try to connect with my Vista
desktop it only says "network not in range" even when the computer is sitting
right next to the gateway. Any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help. XP
was so much easier.
