Remote Assistance - unable to connect Vista laptops with RA

I'm looking for help in using Remote Assistance between Vista machines. I
have 2 laptop PCs running Vista Home Premium and 1 desktop PC running XP Pro
SP2 on a home network. My mom's new laptop is running Vista Home Premium in
another state. I am able to provide Remote Assistance from the XP machine to
any of the Vista machines (including my mom's). However, I am not able to
get any of the Vista machines to connect to each other using any of invite
methods, including running msra.exe and providing IP addresses.

I have the Windows and PC-cillian firewalls turned off and I've ensured that
all check boxes for allowing remote access are correctly set, etc. After the
invites and passwords are exchanged and accepted, the "helper" pc shows the
intial RA screen with the words "Attempting to connect . . . " After about 4
minutes, the RA window says "(not responding)." When I view details, I get
the info listed below. I've looked in all the forums and all over the
network to no avail. Please help! Thanks.

Not 100% certain, but I don't think Home premium
is set up to give remote assistance. it will take connections,
but I don't think it can initiate them.

Yes it can, it does not support Remote Desktop is what you are referring to.

Re: Remote Assistance - unable to connect Vista laptops with RA

Thanks for the ideas, but I'm still not there. I had found info yesterday
stating that Vista Home Premium does not support Remote Desktop...but I
haven't seen anything saying that I can't do Remote Assistance with this
version of OS. BTW, the XP machine can request assistance from Vista laptop
#1 and a connection is successfully established. And, I can do the reverse
-- Vista requests of XP. I can still not sucessfully conect when requesting
from Vista laptop #2 (on home network) or on Vista laptop #3 (in different
state) to Vista laptop #1 and get the connection to work. Still ending up
with the RA app "not responding" situation.

I am okay with not being able to OFFER remote assistance, and just accepting
invitations to help and having the connection work. And I don't care if I
have to use email, or file transfer, or WLM . . . anything that will just
work would be great!
