vista blue screen on brand new lenovo

I have a brand new lenovo that I got becuase I used to get blue screen of deaths all the time with my last computer, an Acer. I literally got the lenovo 2 days ago and already got my first blue screen.

The only overlap between the 2 computers is iTunes which I downloaded and also ms office pro 2003 (I uninstalled 2007 and installed this from some CDs that I had).
Could these ms disks possibly be the culprit?

Office 2003 Pro is compatible with Vista.
Recommended to download SP3 for Office 2003.

I have had friends that have had probs with iTunes on vista; don't know the
workarouind for you. They simply don't use it anymore!

Re: vista blue screen on brand new lenovo

thanks for the reply Mick. Do you think there is a chance that the MS Office disks are corrupted and are causing the blue screen? I did download SP3 already.

They were given to me by a friend (I ran out of installations on my old ms disks after having to reinstall the OS so many times)

And, is it okay to continue on and just hope I don't get the blue screen again?

Re: vista blue screen on brand new lenovo

I have Office 2003 and Itunes both working OK.

I did have a problem with Itunes early and I followed some troubleshooting
available at Apple. It seed like I had to uninstall (or install) a stand
alone Quicktime (which is part of Itunes). I tunes will not work withou
Quick Time installed.....

I can't remember exactly what I did. But search the apple installation
help / toubleshooting site.....That fixed my Itunes problems with Vista

1. What is the actual content of the Bliue Screen error message? That
is an essential bit of information for any possible diagnosis of your
problem.

2. New Lenovo computer means new Lenovo computer warranty. Have you
contacted Lenovo's tech support regarding this problem?

Good luck

Re: vista blue screen on brand new lenovo

I didn't catch the blue screen error code (too quick). But the below came up on in a message on my computer when I restarted. I do have a warranty but I sent my previous Acer back 3 times to get fixed for a blue screen issue and they never fixed it. I can't part with my computer again like that, and these warranty people are useless. I'd rather just solve it on my own.

See error message below:

1. Open Control Panel - System and go to the Advanced tab.
Click on the Settings button in the Startup and Recovery (bottom)
section.
In the Startup and Recovery window click on the checkbox for
"automatically restart" to clear it then click on Apply and/or OK as
needed to exit.

2. See the following web sites for information about your specific
error:
http://aumha.org/a/stop.htm - click on the "OA: IRQL...." link in the
left side column.

Good luck
