| Re: Blank screen Turn the laptop off, press power button and before any messages appear press Ctrl+F6 and keep pressing. Listen for a series of beeps. Keep pressing for at least a minute. Release F6 but keep Ctrl pressed on. You should see a DOS screen offering you to start Vista. Click. You will get a CMOS screen. I think it is called: Windows Boot Management something. You will have to do it possibly a few times. First you may try: start the latest safe configuration. It can work and it will restore the system. If it does not work, next time start in safe mode with Internet. Click Start==>Accessories==>System Tools==>system Restore and try to restore to any point that is there crated by the system. All that failed, if you do not have a restore point, you will have to use a system recovery disk that came with the manufacturer. If there is no recovery disk, use the Vista System disk to install new OS. If you put it in the HDD it will supposed to get started. Choose option "Repair old installation or something. Good luck. P.S. That combination Ctrl+F6 is maker specific. Your system may have a different code. try various combinations: Alt+F6, Esc+F6, also vary Function keys all the way from F2 up to F12. It is not very difficult to find the right one. Just remember which one you used. The key is to hear the distress beeps from the systems chip.
