KMplayer, the media player that puts Windows Media Player to SHAME!

WMP 11 is total crap... a usless peice of junk...

if you want something far superior (mostly for video) you should try
KMPLAYER

http://www.neowin.net/news/software/...rkmp-2931428-2

The KMPlayer is a versatile media player which can cover various types of
container format such as VCD, DVD, AVI, MKV, Ogg Theora, OGM, 3GP,
MPEG-1/2/4, WMV, RealMedia, and QuickTime among others. It handles a wide
range of subtitles and allows you to capture audio, video, and screenshots
in many ways. The player provides both internal and external filters with a
fully controlled environment in terms of connections to other splitters,
decoders, audio/video transform filters and renderers without grappling with
the DirectShow merit system. Internal filters are not registered to user's
system to keep it from being messed up with system filters. The KMPlayer
includes almost all the essential decoders required for media playback.
Furthermore, to get beyond the limitation of internal decoders, the external
ones such as commercial h.264 decoders or cyberlink/intervideo audio
decoders can be specified, so that KMP works optimally by the users' own
customization.

Even though the KMP is based upon directshow structure, it supports Winamp,
Realmedia and Quicktime by the internal logic. Thus, it is possible to
specify where to try to connect firstly the media in preferences. In short,
the player provides a strong hybrid structure efficient for interconnecting
various directshow filters, Winamp input&dsp plugin, and internal filters.
The most outstanding feature is that the player has the full control of
filter connections to prevent a media playback from being messed. The player
can set multifarious audio and video effects, slow down or increase playback
speed with regular tone, select parts of a video as favorites, do an
exceptionally powerful A-B repeat, remap the keys of remote interface for
HTPC including overlay screen controls, change a skin dynamically depending
on a media type playing, and many more. It is completely customizable thanks
to a wide

I read your diatribe about WMP 11...I saw where you made a fool out of
yourself in public due to your computer incompetence. You're actually
stupid.

You should try and learn how to actually use a computer or just stick to
building cardboard space ships in your moms basement.

Installed Ubuntu 7.10 on a P3/933, took about 1.5 hours, then there were
143 updates, and that's just to the back installed package, no extra's
added to it yet.

Seems there are new updates weekly too...

Strange, just like Windows XP, but XP supports more hardware.

I know ... 7.04 - 240MB of updates.
Takes less to update original XP to SP2

you might wanna read the site...fully

KMplayer (x)
KM Player (x)
KM player (x)
KMPlayer (x) ---> KDE frontend for mplayer which has nothing to do with KMP
Korean Media Player (x)

The KMPlayer (o) - Complete and official form
KMP (o) - Abbreviation of K-Multimedia Player

K-Multimedia Player (o)
Kang Multimedia Player (o)

The KMPlayer is based upon MPlayer or KMPlayer (KDE) or VLC (x); KMP is
basically a directshow application though it has an extended hybrid
structure to use shipped decoders as a plugin (by wrapping it for the
connection to directshow).

The KMPlayer uses the codec of MPlayer or VLC (x); Not exactly. Both MPlayer
or VLC use a libavcodec library from FFmpeg project. The library is also
used in ffdshow. What KMP uses is exactly a libavcodec library from FFmpeg,
not the codec of anything. And KMP borrowed some GUI interfaces to configure
the supported features of the library from ffdshow etc (very well organized
form). The binary of the library can be replaced (libcodec.dll). The library
name was changed due to the confliction with a directshow wrapper of
libavcodec (ffdshow) which is registered to system. Originally, the player
had used a libavcodec binary from Unified Codec Package of dTomoyo (famous
codec package provider in Korea) before the confliction report.

Why is it possible to use some plugins of winamp?; The player simulates some
APIs of the older version of winamp for making it possible to use the plugin
of winamp. It is not 100% compatible. (Mainly focused on enabling input
plugins) Personally, I don't use almost all winamp things about the plugin.
(There are better ways.) The plugin structure of winamp is not so efficient
as it must be loaded when launching the player even if it is not used.
Recently, winamp changed many parts of the plugin structure resulting in the
compatibility issues with KMP (It became hard to support due to the hidden
parts).

Re: I Think They Need You In The Ubuntu Camp - Just FYI

those updates in linux include all the installed applications you dumbell,
not only the OS...

when you update XP you are updating ONLY the OS, and not all the
applications installed

90 minutes to install Ubuntu 7.10? You must be joking. (or simply lying).
It took me 10 to 15 minutes tops plus about another 10 minutes for the
updates to download and install. It was then fully useable including Open
Office, recognizes my scanner and printer (HP Businessjet) and connected to
the internet and my home network, all straight out of the box. I have my
reservations about Ubuntu (LINUX) but in many ways it is light years ahead
of WINXP.

On what?
I have never been able to install Ubuntu in less than an hour on any of my
