what's a blowhart ?
ubuntu needs to improve its spellchecker...and a lot more!
ubuntu makes most people incompetent...that's why its free.
Good thing for Microsoft...otherwise everyone would be forced to use that
Linuts stuff.
Then there's Apple...supposedly

Yes, it is.

As I am not a programmer I can only list the improvements I've seen
which is a stabler, smoother OS since 7.04, no programs crash like they
used to do occasionally with 6.06. Setting up a printer/scanner is
better as are the drivers for my nVidia graphic cards. The ability to
read/write to NTFS drives out of the box is new with Gutsy.
Compiz-fusion is available out of the box without the configuring Beryl
needed. The installation of programs is a lot smoother too.

Here's some you dimwit:

1) compiz comes installed
2) AppArmor, a security framework adds even more security to Ubuntu
3) Gnome 2.20
4) a backup feature for Evolution
5) more functionality in the gnome screensaver when a screen is locked
6) syntax highlighting in gedit
7) new applet called Appearance
8) one click install of needed codecs when a multimedia file is encountered
and the codec is required
9) easy proprietary driver installation if desired
10) improved plug'n play configuration for printers
11) automatic firmware install for Broadcom cards
12) for laptop users, full suupoort for external VGA
13) automatic read/write to NTFS drives
14) desktop search
15) automatic installation of popular Firefox plugins validated by Ubuntu

But you'll never know, as you're too dumb to get it installed. :-)

Cheers.

If ubuntu keeps up this blistering pace, it will match Win95 in no time.

Full support for external VGA and ability to read/write NTFS. That's
awesome.

Actually, as far as NTFS concerned, YES it is awesome.

You, under windows, take NTFS read / write support obviously for granted.

Realize this however:

Microsoft does *NOT*, I say that again, *NOT* publish the specifications
for NTFS. They do not make even a single bit of information available to
the public. So for anyone to manage to write a driver for a file system
as complex as NTFS and succeed in writing one that actually works
reliably without even the tiniest bit of documentation about it, that is
one major accomplishment.

Vista can't read Ubuntu files and probably never will be able to.

Well, with any luck, in the near future, you won't need anything MS at
all on your computer.

Unlikely as for as long as Windows exists I'll be writing software for
it. So I'll always need it around in one way or another. For that matter,
I'll eventually actually even need a Mac around as that's another
platform I'll start targeting.

See the thing about me is, I actually don't really care all that terribly
much which platform I use. I don't care if it's called Linux, Windows,
Mac or TurdOS. I simply care that it does the job and that it does the
job well and I choose accordingly based on my needs.

There is a Windoze driver that allows it to read ext3 filesystems. But why
would anyone want to do that?

Do you have a reading comprehension problem. Most of what I listed above is
way beyond what Fista can even do.

Cheers.

I guess I do. Perhaps you can explain it in more detail.

1. I have no idea what "compiz" is. Never heard of it. Don't need it.
2. Adds even more security to something that is already bullet-proof? Wow.
3. Gnome 2.20? So what? That's a feature?
4. data backup? This is new?
5. More screen saver features? How do I survive without this in Vista?
6. No way! Syntax highlighting?
7. Awesome. Something called Appearance. I want it! What is it?
8. Automatic codecs install? This is new?
9. When has this ever been hard? On "Windoze", I mean.
10. Plug & play printers? Seriously?
11. Ummm, wow.
12. This has been around for 20 years. On "Windoze", I mean.
13. You're right, Vista can't read/write NTFS for sure.
14. Is this anything like Google desktop search - for "Windoze"? Or the
Vista desktop search?
15. I'm confused. The OS is now automatically installing browser plug-ins
and this is *good*?

Sorry, bro. But your feature list is lame. If MS released a "feature" list
like that you would wet yourself dancing in circles giggling like a school
girl.

How about Ubuntu taking a LEADERSHIP position in even ONE area? Apple has
graphics, real unix distros have servers, MS has desktops. What market has
Ubuntu cornered? Besides "newsgroup trolls", I mean.
