| internet explorer completely stopped working I have spent many hours looking for a solution to this problem, but still have found none and hope that you can help here (I apologize if this is the wrong place to post this.) My problem is that, one time I was using MLB Gameday with internet explorer because it seemed to be the only browser that didn't get any "flash errors" when I used it, but one time, it did get one of the errors, and after that time, probably about a month ago, internet explorer has not worked at all. When I open it up, in just says that "Internet explorer has stopped working correctly, windows is searching for a solution to the problem" but it never finds one, hence I am stuck without and use to the program. Normally I wouldn't care, since I mainly use MSN and Firefox, but I also use Google Earth a lot and the browser in that is no longer working (I assume that it works with IE). Is there anthing that I can do or anyone else who has encountered this problem? Thanks in advance. |

| Re: internet explorer completely stopped working Have you tried resetting Internet Explorer settings to see if it corrects the problem? | RE: internet explorer completely stopped working Try launching Internet Explorer in safe-mode to see if it opens. Click on Start, All Programs, Accessories, System Tools, and then click on Internet Explorer (No Add-ons). If Internet Explorer launches, try disabling the Adobe Flash add-on. To do this in Internet Explorer, click on Tools, Manage Add-ons, and then click on Enable or Disable Add-ons. In the "Show" drop-down, select "Add-ons that have been used by Internet Explorer". From the list of Add-ons, select "Shockwave Flash Object" and under "Settings" select the Disable option, and then click the OK button. Close Internet Explorer and try to launch it normally to see if this resolves the crash. If disabling the Adobe Flash Add-on resolves the issue, you can uninstall Adobe Flash and re-install it. To do this, click on Start, and then click Control Panel. On the left hand task pane, ensure that "Control Panel Home" is the selected view. You will now see several options. Under "Programs" (green text), select "Uninstall a program". Look to see if "Adobe Flash Player Active-X" is listed. If it is, select it and click on the "Uninstall" button, and then follow the on-screen instructions. To re-install Flash, open up Internet Explorer and navigate to http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash&promoid=BIOW. If Internet Explorer can not launch in safe mode, try running Windows Resource Protection verification to see if there are corrupt files on the system. To do this, click on Start, All Programs, Accessories, and then right click on Command Prompt and click on "Run as administrator". If User Account Control prompts you for consent, provide the appropriate credentials or consent. With the Command Prompt window open, type the following command and then hit Enter on your keyboard: SFC.EXE /SCANNOW Windows Resource Protection will verify all system files and if there is corruption Wndows will try to repair the files. Also, to assist further, could you please post the crash analysis information? You can find this by looking in Problem Reports and Solutions. To open this, click on Start, Control Panel, and type "solutions" into the search field. Cliick on "Problem Reports and Solutions" in the search results. In the task pane of the "Problem Reports and Solutions" window, click on "View problem history". Double click on one of the Internet Explorer entries listed and copy and paste the information that is displayed into a reply to this newsgroup post. I hope that this information helps you resolve the issue, and have yourself a great day. -- Regards, Kristan M.
