I have a problem with norton at the moment ,i can not delete a file called
symlcrst.dll as it corrupted and unreadable.i have uninstalled norton by
the removal tool ,but stiil the file remains.I also tryied safe mode with no
luck, any help please

Hi,

Open cmd

and go to the folder with that file (I'm not sure of folder)
cd c:\program files\common files\symantec shared\ccpd-lc
unregister file
regsvr32 /u symlcrst.dll
delete file
del symlcrst.dll
or you can just try delete it after reboot if it will be locked

Norton is the barnacle of the software world, very difficult to remove.
Symantec has a sooper-dooper removal tool, although even it leave spoors
behind.

After using the Symantec tool, searching the registry for "Norton" and
"Symantec" may yield additional entries that can be removed.

Install/Uninstall Problems
Vista uninstaller does a very poor job of removing all parts of a program.
Sometimes the proprietary removal tool can help, but often it leaves files
and registry entries on your system. You can do a manual uninstall with the
help of Windows Installer CleanUp Utility, but the best way to get rid of all
remnants of a program, failed download and install, or failed uninstall is
using Smarty Uninstaller. Until you clean your system of this debris, you
won't be able to install the new program. You can access Smarty Uninstaller

Take Ownership/Permissions

some files or folders, even ones that you have downloaded and installed. To
access or modify (copy, delete, rename) files or folders you can take
Ownership of (in your Username) and grant yourself Full Control permissions

Ownership of large branches like Program Files folder or Users folder, and
grant yourself Full Control of the folder, all subfolders and files contained
in the folder. In the case of Program Files, you would have full access to
all your programs. In the case of Users folder, you would have full access
to your Music, Pictures, Videos, Documents, etc.

Windows Explorer Run As Administrator
Another way to gain access to modify files and folders includes going to the
Start button, typing in Windows Explorer, right-clicking on this and
selecting Run As Administrator. You should then have "elevated privileges"
to do whatever you wish to files in Windows Explorer.

There is also a program called Unlocker that you can use to gain access to
modify files and folders.

If the Norton removal tool doesn't work satisfactory use this:

RegSeeker will remove all associated detritus (registry keys,files and
folders) from any application. I found this application user friendly and
very effective but suggest *not* to use the 'Clean the Registry' option.
Click onto 'Find in registry' and in the 'Search for' box type *Norton*;
The pertinent registry keys can then be safely deleted (just in case,
ensure that the 'Backup before deletion' is checked). Repeat the task by
typing in the Search for' box *Symantec*. You can then go on search and
remove associated files as well.
Then use NTREGOPT to compact the registry; Follow instructions.
