The only way what the Linux dupes will have what they *believe* almost
religiously in--non-corporate software-- is when a company completely
ironically takes over the idea and makes it entirely proprietary. This
socialist idea of open source was doomed philosophically from the start.

You cannot create a standard when absolutely everyone can violate each and
every idea behind and implemented in the system.

Good luck to those who believe otherwise! It lead to the downfall of entire
countries to consider this workable.

Some 75% of all new major application development this
year took place through open source projects.

Windopws is just not competitive any more.

It is immensely buggy, undcumented (witness the massive EU fine
and 300+ engineers needed by micoshaft to write the networking
documentation!!!), unfixable because nearly everything
relevant is undocumented. Just who exactly today has 100%
networking working without bugs?
Only Linux houses.
Just who has biggest driver support?
Only Linux.
Who has fastest of all software solutions?
Only open source and Linux.
Open source is bigger than Micoshaft in EU alone.
I can go on, but you get the point.

You should try Linux before trying to compare with it
or listen to the highly outdated disparaging comments
put out by Micoshaft's asstroturfers.

Livecds are the best because you can run this stuff
from CD only without having to install on to your hard disk.

One wonders how you know these things if you have not already got LiveCDs
and Linux already working in your machines compared to your previous posts.

At least with Ubuntu, you just install, click and go with synaptic.

integrated it with a speech synthesiser calling out "Movement Detected"
when it detects movement all in a matter of hours - just doodling!

Try that with windopws if you can without having to steal some
software package or another and/or losing a fortune
in developer software. Not very realistic for just doodling fun.

Its a different world compared to the idiocies of the windummy world.

motion sensors were developed quite some time ago.
mostly, you don't want to warn the intruder by saying, "movement
detected"....he already know he is on the move
you want loud noise to alert others...and scare the intruder into believing
authorities may arrive to incarcerate him.
once he sees you have linux installed...he will realize nothing of value
exist at this residence...and leave

I suspect many of these people are teens thinking that they are superior for
this.

Implementation is grunt work. Human factors engineering is quite a
different idea...and MS and Apple both have a long way to go.

Why? Linux seems to be working just fine on my desktop and I'm a totally
new user. I'll concede that I had a few hardware problems, but with a
little outside help I was able to get Ubuntu working fine. Linux will not
overtake Windwows over night because Microsoft is already dominant on the
bulk of systems. As more people become dis-enchanted with Vista however
Linux and OSX will offer alternatives that these people possibly might
try. Linux is only a live dvd away and it's possible to try Linux without
affecting the already installed system. What Linux really needs is some
good old fashioned advertising because it is not exactly a household word
amongst typical users who are not computer professionals.

There are so many incompatabilities among distributions and the limited
available and functional software ... that is why.
