IE7 Crashes when I try to do MS download

I am running Vista Ultimate. Something happened to my IE7 so that when I
try to do downloads, e.g. from Microsoft, it opens a little Window and then
crashes, restarting the browser. Any ideas? Also, I could not find a
newsgroup for IE, so I'm posting it here. TIA
