Can you get a downgrade from Vista to Xp from Dell?

I have purchased a dell laptop and it only allowed me to purchase with Vista.
Does Dell allow any type of a downgrade program to Xp from Vista?
Or Microsoft?

Contact Dell support.

Microsoft does not directly support pre-installed verisons of operating
systems from major PC makers. That is, they will tell you to talk to the PC
maker for things like downgrading, recovery, etc. However, Microsoft does
offer patches and service packs directly to the end-users, via windows
update.

Re: Can you get a downgrade from Vista to Xp from Dell?

2 questions. WHY and WHY would you want to do something like that? a new
fresh operating system, to downgrade to the predictable XP.

Re: Can you get a downgrade from Vista to Xp from Dell?

Sadly, many OEMs install loads of crapware that can cause big problems. I
speak from experience with a Lenovo Thinkpad. After removing the crapware,
things improve but it's not a clean (fresh) Vista install.
