Wild card search?

In the olden days <s> one was able to do a search with a wild card format to
show all files with say a particular extension as in say, find *.dot which
meant find all files with the .dot extension. How is that now done in
Vista?
TIA
Paula

Re: Wild card search?

The same way you did it in previous versions, only difference is you can do
it right from the Start Menu Instant Search field.

For instance type in *.docx and all Microsoft Word 2007 files will instantly
appear. Remember, the locations of the files will have be indexed unless you
open the Search Explorer and refine your Search criterions.

Ext:dot tends to work better than *.dot imho , since it excludes
shortcuts

Re: Wild card search?

Seems *contentText* doesn't find files that contain contentText within
other words. Are wildcards for content supported as well?
