| Re: Display the actual type, rather than the description of the ty I'm sorry but you have misunderstood the question. I already have that unticked. When I display a folder and sort by file type, the file type is not the actual extension, eg ".doc", but Microsoft's description, eg "Microsoft Word Document". I want to display ".doc". No, it's easier this: Open Windows Explorer -> Organize -> Folder options -> deselect " hide extension for know file types" |

| Re: Display the actual type, rather than the description of the ty If you sort on "Type", it still groups the files the way you want, except it doesn't show .doc The extension is shown as in the Name field, unless you have the extensions still hidden.
