Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working....Please help me!

I have been having this problem for several month but has continually gotten
worse. When I open a folder, 9 times out of 10 a box comes up that says
"Windows Explorer has Stopped Working, Windows Explorers is Shutting Down."
I recently completely restored my computer and it is STILL happening. This
is on my work computer and it has caused huge problems with accessing my
files. I need a solution - any one know what to do? Thanks!

Re: Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working....Please help me!

seems to me that some explorer extension is causing the problem

go here http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html and use that app
to disable temporarily all non microsoft shell extensions that load up
with windows explorer. See if it fixes the situation.

You do that by right clicking on the pink ones and selecting disable.

Then with the trial and error method start enabling them one by one again
try to pinpoint which one is causing the problem and keep it disabled..

you might also want to scan for spyware using the built windows defender and
"spybot search & destroy " and "adaware"
that you can download from www.download.com if you search for those 2 names.

tell me if this helps

Oh.. you must run the EXE as an administrator, so right click on the exe
after you unzip it and select "run as administrator"

Tibery-OS you should have stayed home - Just FYI

When Tibery-OS attempted to siphon gasoline from a motor home parked on a
Seattle street, he got much more than he bargained for. Police arrived at
the scene to find an ill man curled up next to a motor home near spilled
sewage. A police spokesman said that the man admitted to trying to steal
gasoline and plugged his hose into the motor home's sewage tank by mistake.
The owner of the vehicle declined to press charges, saying that it was the
best laugh he'd ever had.

Re: Windows Explorer Has Stopped Working....Please help me!

I had the same issue. I started uninstalling the crap software (as in
untested) that came with my computer and the problem disappeared.
